The Hocking Hills

The Hocking Hills Tourism Association retained Weirick Communications in 2002 to generate publicity designed to increase tourism to the region. In just 4 years, we have generated more than 1,550 print, online, TV and radio stories and interviews representing more than $2.5 million worth of publicity, including articles in the Wall Street Journal, Better Homes & Gardens, Midwest Living, Dallas Morning News, The Columbus Dispatch and hundreds of other target publications. Beyond the publicity, Weirick developed creative marketing and advertising campaigns, a new website and other efforts that, in concert with publicity have increased visitation to the county by more than 30%.

Weirick Communications, Inc. created a unique “Show Your Card & Save” promotional partnership with AAA travel, generating four full pages of advertorial, discounts and more than $62,000 worth of promotion that filled area guest rooms during the region’s slowest weekends.

In addition, we worked with the editors of Long Weekends Magazine, the same publisher that produces Ohio Magazine, to feature the Hocking Hills in its premier issue. Then, we helped the publisher promote its new magazine on TV and radio, arranging interviews and providing video tape of the region to support TV interviews. That effort alone generated more than $25,000 in publicity.
